David Hogg, the 25-year-old activist turned Democratic National Committee (DNC) vice chair, just gave America a rare gift: honesty from the Left. During a recent interview with CBS News, Hogg decided to let the mask slip and blame democracy itself for the country’s problems. You heard that right—he said democracy is to blame for school shootings, the climate “crisis,” and a generation of young people losing faith in America.

This is the guy the Democrats made vice chair of their national party—someone who looks at our constitutional republic and says, “That’s the problem.” Not the failed policies. Not the open borders. Not the skyrocketing crime, fentanyl deaths, or economic destruction under Democrat leadership. Nope. According to Hogg, the real villain here is the system that lets the American people vote.
To quote Hogg himself: “We go out there as Democrats all the time and say democracy is the most important thing… We fail to acknowledge that this generation, democracy is what put us through school shooter drills and school shootings. It’s what’s put us through the climate crisis and so much more.”
Translation? “Democracy let people elect Republicans. And I don’t like that.”
Of course, what Hogg really means is that democracy is only acceptable when it produces his desired outcomes. But when the American people elect Donald Trump in a landslide and hand Republicans control of the House and Senate—as they did in 2024—then suddenly the system is broken.
It’s the kind of dangerous, authoritarian thinking that’s been hiding under the surface of the Democratic Party for years. Hogg just had the gall (and naivety) to say it out loud.
This all comes as Hogg is launching a $20 million campaign to primary older Democrats who aren’t moving fast enough on his radical agenda. He wants to replace them with younger left-wing activists who, let’s be real, think AOC is too moderate.
The move has already triggered some classic Democrat-on-Democrat brawling, with longtime Clinton ally James Carville calling Hogg a “contemptible little twerp.” Even DNC Chair Ken Martin tried to do damage control, awkwardly praising Hogg’s “passionate advocacy” while reminding everyone that primaries are decided by, wait for it—voters.
Hogg’s tantrum proves one thing: the Left doesn’t hate authoritarianism—they just hate not being the authoritarians in charge. And now they’re eating their own over it. Grab the popcorn.
