Cory Booker is at it again — throwing another tantrum that absolutely no one asked for. On Sunday, the Democrat Senator from New Jersey, along with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, staged a so-called “sit-in” protest on the Capitol steps. Yes, because when Democrats don’t get their way, the mature thing to do is apparently to play 1960s activist cosplay outside the building they already work in.
The reason for this latest meltdown? Booker and Jeffries are furious that Republican leaders are moving forward with a budget plan under President Trump that actually reins in bloated welfare programs. According to their pearl-clutching statement, the GOP plan “seeks to gut Medicaid, food assistance, and basic needs programs” to “give tax breaks to billionaires.” Translation: Trump is undoing the Democrats’ decades-long project of making half the country dependent on government handouts.

So, Booker and Jeffries declared it was time for “An Urgent Conversation with the American People.” They even livestreamed the whole thing, practically begging for a crowd to gather and join their heroic stand against common sense budgeting. The result? Crickets. The so-called “urgent conversation” turned into a sad, embarrassing spectacle that looked more like a low-budget 90s rap video than a serious political protest.
And this isn’t Booker’s first embarrassing performance this month. Earlier in April, he took to the Senate floor and delivered the longest bug-eyed rant in Senate history, going over 24 hours trashing President Trump, Elon Musk, and basically anyone who isn’t a card-carrying member of the DNC. If you needed proof that Democrats are living in an alternate universe fueled by Twitter outrage and MSNBC panels, Booker’s breakdown should have sealed it.
What’s truly hilarious is that these Democrats act like cutting government waste is some moral crime. Meanwhile, under Trump’s leadership, we’re seeing real economic investment and real job growth — you know, things that actually help seniors, kids, and families rather than trapping them in permanent government dependency.
The truth is, Cory Booker and Hakeem Jeffries aren’t leading a movement. They’re leading a pity party. And the American people aren’t buying it. While they pout on the Capitol steps, President Trump is out there delivering results, fixing the mess they made, and showing real leadership. Maybe Booker and Jeffries should sit in a little longer — at least until they figure out how badly they’re losing.
Want to watch the whole 8 hours of the sit-in? Of course not. But here it is:
