Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) just delivered the political equivalent of a mic drop, and the internet can’t get enough of it. When confronted (once again) by his Capitol Hill “stalker” — a persistent young reporter fishing for anti-Trump soundbites — Burchett fired back with one of the most savage comebacks of the year.
The reporter, clearly trying to breathe life into the already debunked “Signal-gate” scandal, asked Burchett if he trusts President Trump’s national security team to keep the country’s war plans secure. This all stems from a now thoroughly discredited accusation that National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth leaked classified info in a Signal chat to none other than Jeffrey Goldberg, the same Atlantic editor behind the infamous, also-false “suckers and losers” hoax about Trump and U.S. soldiers.
Without missing a beat, Burchett shot back: “Do you trust your mother every night to fix your Hot Pockets and make sure your Game Boy is turned on?” And just like that, Signal-gate became cringe-gate. The clip, cheekily titled “My stalker/tracker almost got me today,” has racked up over 10 million views on X — and for good reason.

Burchett later told the New York Post that this overzealous amateur has been “tracking” him nearly every day for about a year. “It could be Soros, could be the Democrat party,” he joked. “I don’t have a clue what his name is.” He also mentioned that even his Democrat colleagues roll their eyes when this guy pops up. When you’re annoying both sides of the aisle, maybe it’s time to reconsider your strategy.
Rather than dodge the guy, Burchett has decided to lean into the absurdity. Earlier this week, in another viral moment, the same reporter asked a variation of the same loaded question. Burchett, without hesitation, responded, “I do — but I do not trust your wardrobe adviser.” Brutal.
The real scandal here isn’t in some Signal app — it’s in how desperate the left and their media cronies are to invent controversy where none exists. Trump’s team has already confirmed that no classified information was shared, but that hasn’t stopped partisan hacks from pushing the false narrative.
If this is the best they’ve got, it’s no wonder Burchett’s having fun with it. He’s not just walking to the Capitol — he’s walking all over this nonsense.
