Liz Cheney’s J6 Narrative Collapses After Expert Exposes Possible Fake Evidence

Former Rep. Liz Cheney is facing fresh scrutiny after a handwriting expert’s analysis suggested potential misconduct during the January 6 Committee investigation. The controversy revolves around key testimony given by Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide, who claimed under oath that she authored a critical note on January 6, 2021—evidence prominently displayed by Cheney during the committee’s hearings. Now, a handwriting expert has confirmed that it was actually former Trump White House lawyer Eric Herschmann, not Hutchinson, who penned the note.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), chair of the House Administration oversight subcommittee, commissioned the handwriting analysis, which concluded that the note matches Herschmann’s handwriting, not Hutchinson’s. This finding contradicts both Hutchinson’s testimony and Cheney’s narrative, raising serious questions about the credibility of Hutchinson’s role and the integrity of the committee’s handling of evidence.

During her testimony, Hutchinson claimed she wrote the note at the direction of then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows as the chaos unfolded at the Capitol. Cheney, who was the committee’s vice chair, held up the note during televised hearings as evidence of Hutchinson’s involvement in managing the response to the Capitol breach. However, Herschmann, who was also in the White House that day, has consistently maintained that he was the author of the note, which outlined a potential statement for then-President Donald Trump to make during the crisis.

With the handwriting expert’s confirmation that Herschmann authored the note, Hutchinson’s credibility is now in serious doubt. Herschmann’s spokesperson told ABC News, “The handwritten note that Cassidy Hutchinson testified was written by her was in fact written by Eric Herschmann.” This not only contradicts Hutchinson’s testimony but also casts a shadow over Cheney’s efforts to build her case around Hutchinson’s claims.

In addition to the handwriting controversy, reports have surfaced suggesting that Cheney may have engaged in unethical communication with Hutchinson. According to sources, Cheney allegedly used the encrypted app Signal to communicate directly with Hutchinson and her associate, Alyssa Farah Griffin, while Hutchinson was still represented by attorney Stefan Passantino. Passantino claims he was unaware of these communications, raising concerns about the transparency of Cheney’s involvement.

Liz Cheney, who lost her primary in Wyoming due to her role on the January 6 Committee and her vocal criticism of Donald Trump, may find her political future further clouded by this scandal. The handwriting debacle could undermine the committee’s findings and further diminish Cheney’s standing within the GOP.
