House Republicans are preparing for a critical closed-door meeting on Wednesday with FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to receive updates on the Trump administration’s ongoing investigation into billionaire George Soros’ influence over local radio stations. At the center of the controversy is a firm tied to Soros that recently acquired more than 200 radio stations from Audacy Inc., sparking concerns about media bias, foreign ownership, and even threats to national security.
The Republican Study Committee (RSC)—a group of 175 conservative lawmakers—will discuss with Carr how Soros-linked entities may be using these stations to push a radical left-wing agenda and, even worse, jeopardize law enforcement operations. San Francisco’s KCBS 740 AM allegedly broadcasted live locations of undercover ICE agents conducting deportation operations in East San Jose, an area known for violent gang activity.
Carr didn’t hold back, calling it “really concerning” that a radio station, now partially owned by a Soros-backed firm, was essentially aiding illegal immigrants in evading deportation. “We have sent a letter of inquiry, a formal investigation into that matter, and they have days left to respond,” Carr stated.
