Prepare yourself for a shocker. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) has just let loose a bombshell about the security at President Trump’s recent rally, and it’s not pretty. Word on the street is that the security detail was subpar, to say the least. And here’s the kicker: some of these so-called ‘security agents’ weren’t even from the Secret Service. They were from the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
That’s right, folks. No Secret Service in sight. Instead, we had DHS officials playing bodyguard for President Trump. This raises an eyebrow – where on earth were the actual Secret Service agents?
Hawley, never one to shy away from speaking his mind, penned a letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding an explanation. He didn’t pull any punches, pointing out several glaring lapses in security protocol at the July 13 rally. Based on what he’s heard, the event was a far cry from a tight ship. No detection dogs? Check. Unauthorized individuals backstage? Check. A practically non-existent security buffer around the podium? Check.

This might sound like something straight out of a political thriller novel, but it’s all too real. What adds another layer of intrigue is the alleged involvement of the Biden Administration. Whistleblowers claim that Mayorkas himself gave the go-ahead to swap out experienced Secret Service agents with DHS officials.
As a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator Hawley is determined to hold Homeland Security accountable. But he could face opposition from Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), the committee chair, who seems reluctant to stir up this hornet’s nest.
And then there’s the big question that’s hanging in the air: How on earth did a 20-year-old gunman manage to fire multiple high-caliber rifle rounds at President Trump from a rooftop during the rally? According to Hawley, the answer lies in the lackluster security measures. The gunman, identified as Thomas Crooks, had an unobstructed view of the stage, a glaring oversight that could have been avoided with proper security planning. With more questions than answers, it seems we’re in for quite the rollercoaster ride.
