Republican lawmakers are finally taking a stand against taxpayer-funded propaganda, and it’s about time. Leading the charge is Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) with his brilliantly named No Propaganda Act, which aims to strip federal funding from NPR and PBS—two media outlets that have spent years masquerading as neutral while pushing a left-wing agenda.
Let’s be honest: NPR and PBS aren’t just harmless public broadcasters giving us Big Bird and classical music. They’re mouthpieces for the liberal elite, pumping out biased news under the guise of “public service journalism.” And the worst part? We’re forced to pay for it. Every year, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) receives half a billion dollars of our money to keep NPR and PBS running. That’s $14.5 billion over time. And for what? More stories about how America is systemically racist, why gender is a social construct, or why we should all eat bugs to save the planet? No thanks.
Senator Kennedy is spot-on when he questions why NPR needs a $201 million headquarters in Washington, D.C., funded by American taxpayers. If they’re struggling so much, why are they buying office space that looks like it belongs to a Silicon Valley tech giant? And why are we subsidizing this nonsense when the country is $36 trillion in debt? Maybe, just maybe, we should stop throwing money at liberal propaganda factories and focus on, I don’t know, paying down the national debt or securing the border.
The No Propaganda Act is simple:
- No more federal funds for NPR, PBS, or the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
- These organizations can no longer accept taxpayer money moving forward.
- Any unspent funds from previous appropriations will be rescinded.
Seems reasonable, right? Well, not if you’re a Democrat. The left loves government-funded media because it guarantees them a built-in megaphone. Look at NPR’s track record: They refused to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story before the 2020 election, dismissing it as a “distraction.” Meanwhile, PBS ran with absurd narratives, including the claim that Elon Musk made a fascist salute. But sure, they’re totally “neutral.”
NPR and PBS are entitled to do opinion journalism—but they can’t do it on the taxpayers’ dime.

Even the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is investigating NPR and PBS for possibly violating federal law by airing what amounts to commercials. If they’re making money off underwriting deals, why do they need federal funds at all? Spoiler alert: They don’t. They just want to keep the government gravy train rolling.
Bottom line: If NPR and PBS want to keep pushing their liberal agenda, they can do it without taxpayer money. Let them sink or swim in the free market like every other media outlet. No more handouts.
